A little bit about Summer.

How would you describe your personal style?

I dress how I feel. I never limit myself to one look or mood. I definitely have a closet filled with solid blacks, but you can also catch me wearing flower patterns, stripes, and polka dots all at the same time. My fashion sense is very much Grandma chic meets 12 year old boy on the playground.

What's your favorite thing to do in your free time?

Singing. I love making music, hanging with my partner, playing silly games like Words with Friends. I used to volunteer a lot with Human Rights Campaign. I haven't done that since moving back to Kentucky, but I have found a really awesome group here called KFTC that everyone should definitely check out [if you're into activism or helping the community] I try to collect canned foods and dry goods for the less fortunate communities in Bowling Green. I used to book a LOT of shows and benefit shows but I haven't found a venue to start doing that regularly at again.

What's something you want to see more of in fashion?

I want to see more normalization of plus size, which is one reason why I am SO IN LOVE with Trash Queen and the beautiful message they are putting out there. I want to see less mass consumerism and more realistic expectations for women's bodies. I want size large to actually be a size large and for that to be okay. More plus size models. More models of colour. And more hemp and more plant based textiles.

Also, I know you run your own business, what inspired you to start it?

I run a small little business called Badass Naturals that focuses on natural, organic deodorant hand made in small batches. I was inspired to start making deodorant because I was so tired of spending time and money seeking out aluminum free deodorants that ACTUALLY worked. Some brands I tried left my skin broken and dry, some brands I tried left me smelling like body odor within 2 hours. I wanted to make a product that worked; a product with ingredients you can actually pronounce. I decided to spend some money on some really good quality ingredients and my little star was born. I want to help educate people on how bad a lot of the products we use daily are for our bodies and help people switch to safer, natural alternatives without breaking the bank.
